Mountain Khakis ambassador Camila Zardo chimes in with an update from the great state of Colorado.
Checking in from Colorado -
There is something about the changing of the seasons that seems to revitalize the body and mind. Looking out from my bedroom window each morning I begin to see the aspen change to their famous golden yellow…a sign that Fall is approaching. Milder temperatures, noticeably crisper air, and countless weekends climbing… I live for this time of year.
I am blessed to live in state with such amazing climbing opportunities. Sometimes I feel like a kid in a candy store with Garden of t
he Gods and Red Rocks Open Space in my backyard and Shelf Road and Turkey Rock only an hour or so away.
This past weekend our group ventured to Menses Prow (The Gallery) at
Shelf Road. The climbing, as always, was amazing. A couple easy
climbs mixed in with a couple more challenging ones made our time fly
by.
Another great climbing adventure took place over Labor Day weekend when
a group of us headed west to Moab to tackle some new climbs. No one in
the group had climbed in the Moab area, one in our group had been
waiting 10 years for this opportunity. Needless to say we were all
excited and anxious. We camped in Kane Springs Canyon and headed to
the Ice Cream Parlor as the sun began to warm the canyon. Reaching the
base area we looked around…not a soul in site. As we climbed we heard
a few ATVs pass by. Some stopped and watched for a minute before
continuing on their way. The rock was all ours. This is the life.
