“We all descended on the Florida Horse Park for another exciting weekend of eventing (USEA competitions with Equiventures LLC.). Friday was an exceptionally wet day. It rained so hard that I literally had a hard time staying on my last horse of the day. Saturday was show jumping day and also brought drier, but much colder, weather. All of the horses looked great during the competition, including my own.
The caliber of competition has seriously stepped up a level from the January show. We had several Olympians, including two gold medalists. Cross country day on Sunday was far less frozen than last month and we were very excited to finally see the sun! The horses and riders all tackled the courses with fierce determination. While not every horse rider team went clear, every team did have an educational experience. My own horses were super and all came out of the weekend better for the experience.
The next Competition at the park is in April and we are already beginning our plans for some exciting changes. Thanks MK for the continued support!”
"Thank you to Mountain Khakis for their generous support! We had a great turnout and it's becuase sponsors like MK!"
“On January 23rd, 2010, Youngstown State University hosted their portion of the University Bouldering Series. There was a great turn out for this year’s comp, with Mountain Khakis being one of our primary sponsors. Everyone had a great time, attempting over 70 different boulder problems…ranging from beginner to advanced. Competitors from University of Pittsburgh, Akron State, Slippery Rock University, Kent State, West Virginia University, Case Western Reserve, and Youngstown State all gathered together to show what they were made of and compete for the highest overall score. Everyone had a great time at this year’s comp and walked away with a few new friends, a bit more experience, and some great prizes. Thank you to our sponsors for helping us out with everything we needed, It was greatly appreciated!”

“The day dawned cloudy and downy flakes were drifting through the air before the first racers—a gaggle of costumed kids—took off down Elk Avenue. The Valley turned into a snowglobe around the skiers as they zipped through the alleys and over bridges, climbed beneath Red Lady Bowl or cruised by
They skied by in tutus and butterfly wings, superman suits and disco outfits, but the most common thing donned by all the racers was a smile. World class athletes and local kids alike marveled at the novelty of skiing down the streets and alleys of Crested Butte and commented on how friendly Buttians are. The Nordic center’s trails were in excellent condition, thanks to a series of late January snow storms and top-notch grooming. Well-staffed aid stations, featuring GU packs and GU brew, kept racers going as they ticked off the kilometers. All in all a record number of participants came out to compete, have fun, and carry on this unique tradition.
In true Crested Butte fashion, no good Nordic race should go uncelebrated. So as each racer came through the finish line they were greeted by a rocking party—music, food, and drinks awaited; first at the beer garden then later at the awards ceremony. Overall, age-class and costume winners were awarded for their efforts, while the masses waited with bated breath to hear their raffle number called. All of this was made possible by the 100 volunteers, and you [MK]. Thank you for helping us to share the benefits of Nordic skiing and the joy of Crested Butte with an ever-widening community. This was a massive undertaking and we couldn’t have done it without your support!”
